This rare bird was discovered 8/12/17 on Sunset Beach, north of Gearhart, by Mike Patterson. It is only the 3rd Oregon record for this species. I saw it on 8/13/17 and took these photos & video.

In this screen shot (taken from slow-motion video, below), white rump is visible as bird flies. Note how long the wings appear to be, especially left wing extending down below feet.
